Orange Glazed Smoked Ham

Hope you all had a wonderful Easter. For this Easter, spicy Indian style smoked ham decorated our lunch table. In this recipe of smoked ham, both sweetness and spiciness tied knot.

You can make this glazed ham not only for Easter but also for any celebrations with your family and friends. I decided to include this one for our Easter menu as Anish and my little one loves to have different style dishes on our table.

Preparation time :15 minutes         Cook time : 2 hours
Ingredients:
Smoked ham (9 pounds)
Roasting:
A tablespoon of ginger garlic paste
15 to 20 cloves
A teaspoon of crushed cardamom
1  teaspoon of red chilly powder
11/2 teaspoons of coriander powder
1 teaspoon of garam masala powder

Glaze:
1/2 cup of orange juice (strained)
1/2 cup of maple syrup
1/2 cup of brown sugar
1/4 cup of white wine

Method:
Preheat your oven to 350 oF .

Slice smoked ham to its three- fourth. Put cloves and crushed cardamom seeds inside the grooves.

Mix red chilly powder, coriander powder and garam masala powder together and rub everywhere of the meat with this powdered mix.

Now take ginger garlic paste and apply on the meat with your hands.

Take a baking tray and put the marinated meat inside and tightly cover the tray with aluminium foil.

Bake at 350oF for one hour. While ham is roasting in the oven, prepare the glaze.

Glaze:
Mix all ingredients of glaze together and bring it to boil on medium heat. When it is boiled, reduce heat to low for 15 minutes.

After one hour, take ham from oven and increase heat to 400oF.

Brush everywhere of ham with glaze and return to oven for 25 to 30 minutes uncovered until heated through and caramelized.

Serve warm and pour remaining glaze (sauce) over it.

They all loved this and didn't mind to take more and me too..... This is one of my attempts to break conventional style of preparing for Easter menu, which climbed success (as all of us equally enjoyed !!). This time I transferred traditional style for the breakfast as we can't afford ourselves without that for even a day..... :-)
